When it comes to eating burgers, I am second only to Wimpy, and I am 63! My last check-up, 5 weeks ago, showed no physical problems.

That is the problem, most of these studies are rather small. In any study of human biology or behaviour it is very difficult to sort out the actual causes of the observed results because you can’t treat people like lab animals and do truly randomized experiments and then dissect the subjects for analysis. You can’t even observe the subjects 14/7 to make sure nothing else is going on. Often the observed results end up being the result of some uncontrolled variable in the experiment or study.

I have a notebook in which I collect recipes. On the front of the notebook is an article entitled, “Why Most of What We Know About Food is Wrong.” It discusses some of the best-known “facts” about food that have come out lately and how the data driving those “facts” were deliberately skewed; the study processes flawed; and in some cases outright lies to fit an agenda were told. So unless your body tells you otherwise, all things in moderation.

Long ago the problem was recognized as PROCESSED meats and the chemicals, smoked, cured etc, not so much the meat. With the “red meat” warnng, it was when consumed in excess, just like in much older studies. “Balanced” diets in moderation are called proper nutrition. Fish btw is part of the Japanese longevity program.

The real issue is that it seems even distilled water gives rats cancer. I also wonder how many of these folks getting cancer are as svelt as Chris Christy??

It is processed and red meats that are the issue. Chicken is still fine, just not when overly processed.
