Melissa: That's Sergeant Bitch to you, Miller! Man: Oh, right. Sorry, Mel. And so, in front of her peers on a hot, summer day in Bagram Airfield... Melissa becomes a sergeant... forever changing her life... slightly.
Everybody wants to be loved, and those who fear they’re not loved often love to make themselves feared instead. How about “bully b-i-t-c-h,” Mel? Is she going to make Miller pay for the indignities she’s suffered? Let’s see how she treats her old buddy, who witnessed the indignities.
Ok, possible happy route for Mel: Go to College when she returns (Walden or MIT?) and meets Zipper, Toggle, etc. Follows BD’s advice and goes OCS. Becomes a champion of womens’ rights in the service.
Who was the mental midget who decided to put the rank insignia in the center of the chest on the BDUs? Now when a guy looks at Mel’s chest searching for her rank insignia so that he can properly address her, she might think he’s actually looking at her “chest.” OMG, what a potential nightmare for that soldier.
i had a work related disagreement with a female boss at one time. deciding she no longer valued my input on the issue, she said ” Jon, they pay me very well to be a bleeep, and i am good at my job.” i said yes, ma’am and shut up.
Mel getting a promotion does not mean she no longer engages in banter with her friends.

Being in kernel mode is not all that great; your mistakes are greatly magnified and can bring down the system.

I wonder if the word “bitch” was a problem for any newspapers. He must’ve also sent in an alternate strip with “%$#@!” in its place.

I think it’s just a new flavor of banter.

It looks like he is putting it on her collar not in the middle of her chest.

Right, like a woman getting called Sarge B to her face would travel well in the Army.

I actually overheard that once…from a Marine NCO to a Marine pfc…said in a weary, been-there/done-that tone of voice.
Just before she wrote the dumbass up.
