Modern dentistry has come a long way. Other than all that drilling, the numbness of the novaciane, the drool mixed with blood, root canals are a breeze.
When I was a kid I would not take the needle and the dentist would not use gas. I think he did a better job because I wasn’t numb. Now when I get a crown, I take the shot.
My childhood dentist was also a family friend, and his name was Dr. Aue — pronounced Owie! (Fortunately, he did NOT live up to his name.) It is better to suffer a little pain from your dentist now than a lot of it later from your teeth, and THEN your dentist when he has to fix them. But Brewster should shop around!
In the late 40s I had to have a tooth drilled & filled. Couldn’t stand the pain of needle providing novacain. So I had the drill with out it. Dentists used a 3 rpm drill that took forever. Pain so intense I eventually endured application of nerve deadner with a long square needle.
Dental tools & proceedure sure changed by the middle 60s in equipment, & even more so by the 90s.

Around here there’s a plumber with the last name of Flood. I always wondered how much business he got.

Does the Dentist have the surname Scrivello?
Argythree about 9 years ago
Yup. It’s now done.
I have 30 days to find someone who can put a crown that I can afford over this stub of a tooth now, or the temp filling will fall out.
Crowns cost a lot these days, for those of us who aren’t royalty…
