Frazz by Jef Mallett for November 12, 2015
Transcript:
Mr. Spaetzle: When I was young, all I had to remember was my locker combination. Now I've got about 20 passwords I keep forgetting. But I still remember that locker com. Frazz: That might be part of the problem. Boy: Tell them to me! I'll remember then for you.

Just make the passwords a simple variation of the locker combo.

I hate passwords….I wish you could just not need them….why isn’t there a way to opt out of them…?….Seriously, a password for the comic section? Why?

Use a password manager, but not a pupil.

Does anybody really know what time it is? Since it’s probably later than we think, let’s go with the latter. ( I’m just searching for something to say.)

Mr. S is doing better than I. I don’t remember any of my high school locker combinations. 25-6-4 seems to be popping into my head for some reason.

It would work out better if brains came with a delete button. How can I possibly still keep up with Jeopardy questions, when in order to find the correct folder, I have to go through 15 file cabinets that include such things as all the words to Purple People Eater, although I’m not sure I want to delete that.

I use sentences rather than words, and find them much easier to remember.

I can remember two things from my youth back when JKF and LBJ were in office — my home phone number (LO7-5596) and the license plate of my dad’s station wagon (QYB 555). But my password for my on-line bank account somehow eludes me after a week or two (so I have to go through the process of ‘changing’ it).

I have my passwords written on a notebook, I just can’t remember them all. Shame on me. However, if someone can understand what I wrote… they nearly deserve a medal. I just put reminders like : Mom river = 69 (French dpt where you find that river)ag-v = my favourite Agatha Christie book minus vowelsand so on.

I just discovered that I can remember the ten digit gasoline credit card number for a company I worked for until 1985. Don’t ask me what I had for lunch yesterday, though.

The best phone number I ever had for remembering was LID-CARE. I just couldn’t figure out whether it should be used by a hat store or a psychiatrist.

33-16-24 for my junior high locker. Use a password vault and 14+ character passwords. LastPass is one that is free and has solid security.

442, Glenwood Avenue, 442, Glenwood Ave…………………SW-28136……. my home number until I moved away to college….I’m a bit lisdexic, so I’ve always had a hard time with numbers…Coming back to S.W. Michigan from Saginaw, (fortunately I didn’t have to hitchhike like Paul Simon…) you have to make a decision…. I 69 and I 96 go to different places….69 goes to Kalamazoo, (Nod, nod, wink, wink, say no more, say no more….), 96 goes to Grand Rapids…Guess how many times I’ve gone to Kazoo by way of G.R…..

I remember in the early days of the internet (1995) people would post their email address along with their password thinking everyone needed their password in order to send them an email. I actually witnessed this a few times in chat rooms.
