OK, Mr. Abrams, I admit...your trailers for the force awakens all look pretty amazing. But I do remember...those trailers for the phantom menace looked pretty amazing too. Just saying.
I never had any real problems with the Phantom Menace, it was a decent movie where everyone was looking for the equivalent to the cure to cancer. Too much hype is a very bad thing.
Oh, and don’t forget that John Williams video featured on Mtv (back when Mtv really stood for “music television”) showing the only good scene in the entire movie: the duel of Darth Maul versus Obi Wan and Qui Gon Jin. Boy, that was cool!
I liked the original Star Wars the best. Just a good ol’ shootem up with rocket ships and light sabers instead of horses and .45s. The next one was pretty good and the third was not too bad. After those I only saw the fourth one, whatever it was and never watched another.
the last one made was the worst. padme had gone from kickbutt hero to whiny girly girl in a negligee. not that i object to women in negligees. but where was the amazing brave female?
The first time Dean watched “The Phantom Menace” (in the current timeline), it must’ve been out forever already. So why bother with the trailers? Then again, this is an obsessed Star Wars fan we’re talking about here, I guess he could’ve watched the trailers afterwards just to check out if the movie looked bad in the trailers as well.
Just saying what? Maybe if there was always such a high risk that the films would suck regardless of who directed them, the franchise was never good in the first place.
The problem with strips like these that comment on current events etc. is that they have a very short shelf life before they become outdated. I prefer when strips just focus on telling stories that won’t age quickly and not on topical commentary.

I remember downloading the Phantom Menace trailer to my laptop. It took overnight on a dial-up connection.

I have zero interest in the genre, haven’t seen any of the 90s movies and will not see this one. Don’t care. DON’T.CARE.
