We are in the final week of Calvin and Hobbes, and today Bill Watterson seems to be giving some commentary relating to his decision to end the strip. He has reached the point where he has exhausted most of his ideas for the strip, and continuing to “crank out” a new strip every day with a high level of originality has become very hard work and very time consuming.

@Thirdguy: The strips during the final week of Calvin and Hobbes seem a bit disjointed, but I think that Bill Watterson is using them to say goodbye in various ways. All of them contain only Calvin and Hobbes.

Great! Now put 3 Elvises on a silk screen. Then reproduce it 22 times. You’ll be rich!

I love Calvin’s out of the ordinary snowmen. They always made me laugh.

Cut off an ear and name it a Van Gogh. You can sell it to a museum.

That sounds like the music industry.

How about Andy Warhol and his art prints? He made a fortune from Marilyn and tomato soup cans. Crank ’em out, Calvin, crank ’em out!

Post modern Calvin. As Woody Allen said in “Manhattan”, “It has a certain negative utility.”

Who says original has to be the best? I often enjoy remakes of films such as Titanic (1997) and Of Mice and Men (1992)
I did enjoy the 1939 original version of “Mice and Men” as well but the remake was more ‘realistic’ to me.
Never seen the original Titanic.

Don’t worry Calvin, I’m sure you’ll be back to creating original snowmen once Gocomics stops reshuffling these strips out of order!

Hey … wonder if today’s strip depicts what the Snow Goons turn into in their post-Calvin days?
Thanks, as always, for the additional strips, Hobbes. Always good to “see” you here.

Hobbes liked saying it!

It’s a little easier being original in the oeuvre of snow than in cartooning, Calvin.

Doesn’t a generic snowman have to have sticks for arms?
