My cats used to drink the Christmas Tree water. Then I found a stand that had a closed cover and a large tank that automatically fed the tree reservoir. It worked great for about two seasons, then the cheap thing fell apart.
Never killed a pine tree for Christmas. We treasured all the pines we saw, & had on our property. Kids enjoyed the Christmas ritual assembling the 1965 Western Auto Plastic tree, that lasted for years until one of our cats climbed it, & broke off several branches. Still used it for many years, & one son still has it at his home!
I will never understand people leaving the seat up for dogs to drink out of, get a water dish! We have dogs for over 40 years and not one of them drank out of the tree, same goes for our cats.
What kind of owner doesn’t make sure that the dog has fresh, easily reached water in the house other than the tree and the toilet? If I had a housedog I would always keep the bathroom door closed, anyway.

Better have a talking to with the cat when it bats off an ornament or climbs up of the tree.

Blue water is sooo much better. 10 points if you can sink the tidy bowl man.

No cat would sink that low!
