since I use my computer as a tv (elgato EyeTv) all my shows are saved as mp4 files on a travel drive. Write the name of the artist or show in the search box and the file appears. I’ll never need to sort thru another pile of tapes or DVDs :)

I got a record player at Costco that connects to the ’puter. the records played become files. I can make them mp3, wave, ogg or aiff using a free app. called Audacity.Nothing sounds as good as the real record! Digital is crap i.m.o.

if you want to convert VHS/8 track or Audio cassettes into computer files you can burn them to CD/DVD. Elgato’s Hybrid EyeTv has the connectors for RCA jacks, S-Video & Coaxial cable. it works with mac and windbloze
