They might have fewer people using sick days when they’re not sick if they would pay people for them. A friend worked at a place where they would pay people for their sick leave if they didn’t use any once a year. Since they would get paid for them, people would use vacation time if they were sick.
Believe it or not, we had a guy who was on vacation, and when he came back, he said he was sick the whole time and wanted to change it to sick time and get his vacation days back!
