Last rental I lived in the washer broke. I pushed the info button and got a code. The owner called a repairman, and he did the same. He said $1000 on a $600 washer. I ordered the part online and spent two hours fixing the washer. $75 for the part.
For years I had no money for a service call and no money for a new washer or dryer. I had a library card, and there was a book on fixing appliances. Modern machines I can’t fix, but my 1970’s hand me downs I could fix.
We had an LG fridge. Stopped working after 36.5 months. 36 month warranty. The service call would have been $180 just to show up, likely the main board, which was a couple hundred for the part, then the installation fees. We just bought a new fridge. Not an LG. Our LG microwave died prematurely as well. Won’t ever buy anything of theirs again. On the plus side, we joined a class action lawsuit for the refrigerator, and got a check for $250.
Joy is right on this one. If you can’t fix the washer yourself with online help, and if the washer is five years old or older, just get a new one and don’t waste money on a repair service.

They’re not anything in the hole until they pay him. They understand that, right?

That’s cheap these days, if you can find anyone who would fix things.

Maytag washers are still made in the US, and most Kenmores were also.
