I bought a used car once, and a previous owner disabled the “Check Engine” light, probably because a car automatically fails the county’s emission test if the Check Engine light comes on.
…and then the friendly neighborhood exorcist chased it away…..but THAT cost her all her butter ‘n egg money from the piggy bank…….she doesn’t want THAT problem again any time soon…….
cars.con…got that right!! (altho the last 2 “used to be new” vehicles I’ve purchased are doing quite well…probly helps that I take meticulous care of them!)
PS…in case anyone is wondering, if your check engine light comes on, it could be something as simple as a dirty air filter, or your gas cap needs to be replaced, etc. You can take your vehicle to most parts shops and they will check for codes with a scan tool free of charge. (and hopefully they’re honest!)
I had a car and the check engine light came on, or perhaps it just stopped, and it was pre-check engine lights existed. At the time, my ex was a mechanic. He checked it out, and it needed a gas filter. It cost 89 cents. It took a couple minutes to replace it. I can only imagine if I had taken it to a mechanic I didn’t know and what the price would have been. I had him replace it once a year, and that was one of my best cars ever. Some cars are just really good cars, and some just never are.

I used to have a 85 Camaro that had that light, I put black tape over it. Problem solves! Car went forever!

We only have 1 available without a check engine light… It has been kept in imperfect condition by 15 previous owners…!

Yeah, mine came on once. So I looked under the hood and sure enough – there was the engine!

Mine’s been coming on for about 15 years. After about 5 minutes it goes out.

Surprised your car is still running. And that your engine did not explode
