Sounds like my EX mother in law, my ex wife once asked if she could take the only car we had to visit her mother 60 miles away. I said sure, I’ll walk to work until you get back (she usually would spend multiple nights there before coming back) but we were flat broke, no money…no money for gas, etc…
There was not enough gas in the car to make a round trip, only enough for me to make it to and from work until next pay day.
I told her she would have to get some gas money from her mother or whatever to get back…she wanted me to borrow from my parents so she could go, said her mom doesn’t have any money. I refused because we already owed them money.
So here I am thinking I am a nice husband by being willing to walk to work for several days before she returns but she told her mother that I won’t let her go because I won’t ask my parents to borrow gas money for her.
Her mother reported me to the police for domestic violence for not allowing her to leave. Which in my state, preventing someone from leaving when they want to is a form of domestic violence.
The police showed up and forced me out of my house, had to go find somewhere else to stay. By morning my ex was at her mothers with the car and I got a summons to court for a protection order that was placed really easily.
She told me if I had done what she wanted I could have avoided all of this, hence anyone can see why we are now divorced and she is on husband #4.
To think she was a normal human being for 4 years of dating and 2 years of engagement, somehow once she got married she turned bad…or she was really good at putting on an awesome show to fool me.
