I’m not a member of the Hood Ornament club.

But I’ve thought about joining, ever since I bought an antique hood ornament here on Ballard Street…

It was a couple of years ago…and I don’t know why, but it reminded me of someone….

    It still looks vaguely familiar…

Could it be modeled after some distant ancestor of anyone I might know?

The Hood Ornament Club is Huge! Could it be because the liquid refreshments are provided by the Tike?

I remember the lighted “Chief Pontiac” on my Grandpa’s old car.

Chief Pontiac, current president-in-waiting of the Hood Ornament Club® informs me, that they have a couple of vacant spots waiting for Last Rose of Summer and Susan Sunshine to park their adornments (automobile accessories). He also informed me that beviek has been an active member for years. We all know how she likes to lead from the front !Since my masthead is too large to mount on the prow of a car, I am content to ogle observe the orbs ornature of others.

Greetings from the weird weather state of Texas.Busy weekend.Tornadoes, thunder snows, snow-nadoes (they had a few of those out in the Midland Odessa area), flooding rains (my area here in Fort Worth), and finally every one got their wish of a white Christmas (shortly after the day but we count it anyway).Bad deal over in the east part of the Dallas area. That tornado in Garland just missed our main office but caught those folks on the freeway. Killing 8 in that spot alone.Cars can fly like Chittychittybangbang but they do not land very well and usually upside down. Not good.I was sent over there shortly after it hit to check our office and get info to start our state emergency procedures.Heck of a way for some folks to start a New Year.Just lucky more were not killed or seriously injured.I too struck a pose like a high speed hood ornament. You have to do that to keep your feet in 45 mph winds. My hat was a warm knit hat. Not as dramatic or aerodynamic but functional.

Was thinking about you when I saw the news. I figured you’d be in the thick of things.Glad to hear that you and your family are safe and relatively unscathed.I have been in Dalls-Ft. Worth during an ice storm. Texas drivers are bad enough in good weather, without the encouragement of icy roads to play bumper cars on.Let me echo Munky and thank you for your service in keeping the denizens of Dallas protected from the elements and themselves.
