Raymond: hey,scartch...
Scratch: Raymond...
Raymond: Im here because I believe its time for you to stop killing the little mice that live on my ship
Scratch: Great.fine.whatever...
...another talk talk talkfest from one of you guys huh?
I’m sorry that I missed Fellow Baby’s comment - must have been a good one. Anyway, I’m always up for a good fight, but yeah, I’m with aaf709, the whole “cat = bad, mice and dogs = good” stereotype is old, especially since I’m not thrilled with the mice. The dogs are great of course, but why couldn’t it be a different relationship somehow than the same ol’, same ol’. Maybe there will be a good twist at the end, so I’ll be paying close attention!
Bite me, aaf709. Raymond left Louie tied up, and there’s not a mouse in sight. It’s a fair fight.
Not all cats are bad guys, but THIS cat is a bad guy. You want to see the plucky cat who gets the better of the big dumb dogs? Go read “Heathcliff.” You want to see cats and dogs living together in harmony? Go read “Mutts”. You want to see a cat who leaves the mice alone? Go read “Garfield.”
Like I said yesterday, whether you like the mice here or not, once Chip made the choice to have Scratch actually KILL Jonas’ friends (and you can hardly claim it’s an unfair stereotype to have a cat hunting mice), something like this was inevitable.
lightenup, Dry and I did our best to confuse everyone and now I can see it actually works. She was referring to my comment and I was referring to hers.
We call eachother Fellow Baby because we both like WKRP in Cincinnati. This is what Dr. Johnny Fever called his audience on his morning show.
And here you were saying, who is this Fellow Baby anyway?
fitzroid….I know the cat isn’t the hero and dogs beating up cats is the norm. Mice are generally depicted as heros. and while they aren’t in the strip today, they’ve used their planes to harass Scratch for some time.
I hate Heathcliff and no, I don’t expect a Mutts or Garfield either. The Dog cat mouse triangle is rather old hat though.
No, I can “hardly claim it’s an unfair stereotype to have a cat hunting mice” why is the cat punished for being a cat? There are breeds of dogs that hunt and kill rats, but dogs are always shown as best buds of mice. To be honest I’ve disliked the introduction of Scratch for this reason.

Oh my, a story line where the mice and dogs are good and the cats are bad. I don’t think that’s ever been done before.
I mean, come on; you’ve got 2 dogs and an unknown number of mice against one cat. And guess who’s gonna lose?

I remember when this comic was funny…then the mice came and it stopped being funny. So go Scratch kill all those mice and kill Jonas slowly.
