Bought a top-of-the-line double oven and within five and eight years I was being quoted $850 parts plus labor per oven. (No thank you.) Bought a dishwasher and again would have been much better off with an extended warranty—spent the price of that dishwasher on do-it-yourself parts alone over four years. Yes we want good products, and manufacturers have no shame—but when it comes to major appliances, I always buy that warranty now. And I stay from the company that rhymes with steers because they no longer offer any. Their delivery service dropped and damaged my new dishwasher? (I saw them do it.) Suddenly the sale disappeared from my account—they didn’t want any hassle, just the money. (The store still had the receipt info but corporate ignored it—and this must be why they offered $100 discount if you bought it online rather than at the store. Glad I supported my local store anyway!)
