    That’s right ignore the 12 years of regular school where the parents actually made sure the students studied and helped them when they couldn’t understand a problem. They also ensured the student went to class unless sick and limited their time on line or hanging out with dead-beat friends. Typical class prejudice to try and say they just throw money at it.

    They were gifted with wealth and trained to pass those tests. As to anything else is in question. Love that corporate teach-to-the-test education.

    We were not rich, and did not manage the trips, not the tutoring, nor the lessons. But we talked at the dinner table, and read and read, and helped them if and when they needed it, but didn’t do it for them. They did manage to qualify for a gifted and talented program from Johns Hopkins (thanks to a math teacher for letting us know the program existed) and they got scholarships there. It is harder, but it can be done.
