Move basket to ground, cut off head, kick it in basket, call it soccer.

Ridiculous – balls have been around right from the start…But now we’ll find ourselves having one of those “which came first” arguments…

Forget the basket… grab a stone and go curling.

Basket is great invention. Put bottom on it, get patent, collect many clams.

Almost as boring as ‘Base’ . . .

Spherical fruit and vegetables surely preceded development of nets, goals, baskets, etc., and were probably preferable to rocks – which were more likely used in warfare. Then came the best part….. cheerleading…..!

The ball doesn’t help.

In the modern game, the ball is as incidental as the rules.
