Picture of Tranquility base, July 1969, “You are not here” is valid is it not? Therefore there are an infinite number of valid negatives to a rather small subset of only proximately valid positives depending upon your acceptable accuracy criteria. Barring an ‘x’ mark on the floor, saying that “you are here” is a very loose construct while “you are not here” is such a infinite universe.

baslim-the-begger that link was great! thanks for posting.

re: the comic - it is really freaky to think that, as I look at the comic, that I am literally not at the mall! In reality, my husband and I RARELY go to the mall but it’s the only place where I can buy a zipper, for crying out loud! That’s because we are die-hard anti-“Mall-Wart” ers so please don’t tell me to buy my zippers there.

Tink, I don’t bother flagging them.

In fact, I usually don’t read the comments at all, and stick to reading the comics. (Cuts down on the acid reflux, too.)

Back in 1981 I ran across a highway sign that said “THIS IS NOT US 163.” (there’s a picture of it on my blog: http://danielcstarr-pages.blogspot.com/2009/01/full-treachery-of-mud-adventure-of.html )

Far as I can tell, the sign’s there because that part of the country is pretty empty, and if you miss the turn-off for 163, you might go forty or fifty miles before you realize your mistake.

It’s perhaps appropriate that the next town you come to after passing this sign is named Paradox…

A lot of Firesign lovers here. I’m in good company. Although, I think we might all be Bozos on this bus.

I love it that there are so many Firesign Theater fans on the boards.

Best road sign that I saw was when I lived in Southern California. I think it was on the west end of the 60 freeway eastbound. It was a ramp that was either an exit or a transition to another freeway. The caution sign on the curve of the ramp read “23 MPH”. It obviously made people pay attention to the sign. And it was painted that way by Caltrans – it wasn’t graffiti.

This could have also been very Zen if one of the signs said, “You nowhere, yet everywhere”.

Baslim: Thanks for the link, forgot totally to look for slide 26 until I hit it in order! Wow, more money than God. In Britain people like that are called “Ecentric.” Here they are just mad!

Wiley, that cannot be a man reading directions. Unless he is trying to locate his wife. Thanks again for the chuckles.
