My sister gave me one of those fur hats, she says they are in fashion. I get those “cool” comments too. The hat is warm, but why it is “fashion” or “cool” I don’t understand.
My “go-to” hat for walking the dog and running my snowblower is hat #1. It’s red and black and there is even a shoe lace type string on the ear flaps so you can tie it under your chin and keep the flaps close against your ears. Hey..here in northern Maine I don’t care if I don’t look cool…I just don’t want to be cold!
The ushanka hat was developed in Siberia and has nothing to do with Russian aviators. I have one made in duck cloth with genuine rabbit fur, and it will keep your head and ears warm in the worst cold, windy days Mother Nature can throw at you.

For me, it’s not about being cool, it’s about not being cold…
