Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for February 10, 2016
Transcript:
Phoebe: This is a hard song, but I really want to impress the talent show audience. Marigold: If you like, I could cast a talent spell on you, so you would play perfectly. Phoebe: Isn't that cheating? Marigold: That is relative. Many unicorns regard practice as cheating. Phoebe: Unicorns are weirdly terrible role models. Marigold: There is a saying: "No one should clap if it does not go zap".

How would a unicorn clap? Maybe she means they stamp their hooves.

One of the pleasures of this cartoon is that unlike, say, Peanuts, or The Perishers, or even Calvin and Hobbes, the lives of the characters do progress. So Phoebe is finally getting the point of piano and beginning to do it willingly.

Marigold is a lot like Michelangelo. In his art, he frequently made copious notes, but he always burned them in shame. He thought true art should be inspired by the touch of god directly.
