Talking isn’t doing. It is a kind of good deed to say well; and yet words are not deeds.

Why is there never a gun and a time machine around when you need one?

I wonder how many talented writers are unemployed today because of all the ‘reality’ tv drivel? Even though those shows have writers, they certainly aren’t talented.

I choose Ophelia, Richard III, Katherine, Falstaff, Hamlet, and either Cleopatra or Robin Goodfellow

Most of network tv is recycled bleeep - mostly they change the characters names to prevent copyright infringement. It’s the reason shows such as Mad Men, Deadwood, Rome, Curb, Friday Night Lights, The Office, seem like Shakespeare. We are lucky to have them. BTW - Weeds sucks.

jukeofurl (hehe), don’t say that about The Office, that was a brilliant show! Ricky Gervais is pure genius!

I strongly agree with your opinion of Weeds jukeofurl. Haven’t watched Rome or Friday Night Lights, so I have no comment on those.

I do think that Deadwood is very overrated though. Mad Men seems somewhat overrated (though I will continue to watch it.)

    I love the network genius

The Switcheroo Country folk in city (Beverly Hillbillies) City folk in country (Green Acres)

The character theft Law and Order personalities are seen in which 1) CSI 2)NCIS (also see switcharoo in letters) 3) The Closer

Do you think they’re looking over the fence?

I love the Bard but he was just an Elisabeth hack playing the crowd. Would we have a few hacks like him today. Why did I memorize so many of that hacks’s sonnets but can’t remember what I saw on TV the last time I watched.

This toon reminds me of a great show that Steve Allen hosted, half a century ago, called *Meeting of Minds.” He gathered historical figures (played by actors, of course) from various eras to, as Dave Blazek put it, “see what happens.” (I’d love to see that show revived.)

“Meeting of Minds” was scripted by Steve Allen, but acted like it was a real conversation. I thought it was one of the more intelligent shows on TV.
