As a public service:.. . . Use a Photoelectric smoke detector near the kitchen.for this reason. It’s the older technology (than ionizing) that’s less super-sensitive, but faster to react to a typical (real) fire with lots of smoke.
You only have about 2 minutes from when a fire starts to get out safely, on average. That does not allow time to realize that this “false alarm” is not one.
Mine are extremely sensitive also. If I boil something and bake something at the same time off they go. They’re not even by the kitchen but I have a single floor house.
I once left a wooden cutting board on a burner. Found the board burning away merrily while the smoke detector never made a sound. (The same detector that goes off every time I boil water!)
We have a smoke detector at the edge of the kitchen. We finally put in a timer that makes it so you can turn it off for just a few minutes—not a lot, but enough.
I don’t understand why, but my smoke alarm goes off when I set the oven to self-clean. I have to open two windows to create a draft. It’s really annoying!

In our old house, the smoke detector was the dinner bell. The thing was so sensitive you couldn’t even make crispy toast without it going off.

Ours doesn’t go off when cooking anymore. I took the batteries out. (We have a second one in the hallway, so don’t worry)

What @jeffiekins said :) Hubby is an electrician and fireman. He suggests this frequently.

So true. My old house did the same until I replace the cheap detectors with good ones. Then it was quiet until battery time.
