Actually, I do like daylight later into the afternoon/night. I’m in Wisconsin and the very short hours of light in winter does get very hard. But, it’s not like the time change ever helps with that. Actually, it’s the opposite. In the fall, all of a sudden there’s another whole HOUR missing from afternoon light. I dread that time, and wonder how many are propelled right into seasonal depression that week. In any case, done now. Sorry folks. It’s not like this is going to actually change anytime soon.HAPPY ALMOST SPRING!
Daylight Stupid Time…. 8 months of forcing our already alarm clock altered body clocks into further duress. We already get up at 4:30 around here, so for 8 months its 3:30….
Bladder-time controls all, which bows to circadian time, which somehow fixed it for me to last 80 years (and counting) via shifting shifts, different time zones and lots of beer and turning in travel vouchers.. Alas. The Plock Thittens…I mean the Thock Plittens…Well, you know what I mean !!
I remember during the first oil crisis in the 1970’s, one year we had DST year round. It was wonderful. I loved having it light longer in the evenings after everyone was home from work. All the neighbors would go outside and actually talk to each other (along with drinks). As for the kiddies, it seems all moms now drive them to school anyway.
Some states never adopted it. Lucky people. We can do it state by state till the stupidity ends.State-by-state would be a huge mess for the travel industry. Airlines schedules would be almost impossible to navigate, and rail travel would be messed up. Even now, the once a year spring ahead means that at 2 am Sunday, when Amtrak pulls into a station, it is suddenly 3 am and they are instantly an hour late. Conversely, in the fall, they have to sit at whatever spot they are in when 2 am rolls around, let it become 1 am, and then wait until it becomes 2 am again.Myself, I prefer light in the evening, dusk with the birds still singing. That’s what it is like in NW Montana, near the Canadian border, but i’s nice in Ohio, too. But I agree that we should probably pick one and keep it, so all this changing which stresses so many people would settle down.
I’ve got a great idea for folks who don’t like d.l.s.(almost everyone) Buy a sailing boat, take sailing lessons(very important) launch your boat somewhere on the Pqcific ocean on a nice sunny day making sure to set your auto tiller on a course to Tahiti.Dont forget to load the cabin with as many cases of beer as you can stuff in there, and a few cans of beans.Last of all as you’re waving farewell to land, and jobs, and whatever other responsibilities you want to escape from, throw all those time keeping devices you may have squirrelled away into the deep blue sea,and say adios to DLST, and any other kind of time forever!

I used to work the graveyard shift so it was never a big deal to me but my wife would take six weeks to recover.

I agree completely! I have severe depression, and these changes wreak havoc on it…

Now that there is more Daylight Time than Standard Time, Standard Time is sub-standard.

Why not just shift it 30 minutes and leave it alone? That way it’s a compromise for both sides. Clock time is just something we made up, anyway.

Why must we have the time change? Why can’t we always have Daylight Savings Time?

I may feel the loss of an hour sleep today, but that’s it! By tomorrow or Tuesday it will seem normal. I like having the longer afternoon and evening.

The solution to people’s annoyance with the clock change is to retire. Then you can ignore the clock and sleep or get up whenever you like.

Since I am retired, I just leave my clocks on “daylight” time all year around.

Problem is in the summer with the extra hour of daylight, it makes the grass grow quicker.
