Having lived alone for many years (no one would have me), I’ve had to freeze my bread. It never goes moldy and lasts for weeks. So if asked “Bigger than a bread box, smaller than a refrigerator?”, I have to say no. Er, do people play 20 questions anymore? No? Honey call Social Security
I think Earl pukes up after he ate the moldy sandwich. LOLs! I would not eat the moldy bread. I toss it in trash. I usually put the bread in the cool refridge during the hot summer. I also, put fresh bread in the freeze.
Wildmustang1262, I once read that bread goes stale 5 times faster in the fridge than if you keep it out in a breadbox, and after testing, found it to be true. I keep spare loaves of bread in the freezer, but the open one stays in the breadbox.
JanCinVV Really! It must be interesting! I never thought about the bread goes stale 5 times faster in the refridge. But the reason is why I have to put the bread in the refridge to keep cool because, it will become moldy easily in the room temperature during hot weather. In Reno/Sparks, the weather is HOT. :-/ Of course, in Las Vegas, it was very, very HOTTEST, the bread will become moldy fast than the eye blinks. I really hate to waste my money for the bread. I have to use it up as much as I can. Thanks for your information about the bread. :-) Have a g’day!
I always keep my store bought bread in the freezer. (Homemade disappears so quickly, there’s no need…)
As long as it is sliced when it goes in, and it is allowed to freeze without getting squished, it works pretty well. I just pop off however many slices I need, and put the rest of the loaf back in the freezer. Living at least a 30 minute drive from any store that I shop at regularly, it helps us to save gas that way, too.
a little bit of mold on bread won’t make you sick. People have become too much sissy-pants. same with some mold on hard cheese. scrap/cut it off and the bread and cheese are fine.

The only thing worse than finding a worm in your apple is finding half a worm in the half of your apple that you have not yet eaten.

Why is it animals will eat spoiled food and not get sick but humans will?
paha_siga over 14 years ago
Because animals don’t know they are supposed to get sick.

Maybe Earl is hypothetically thinking how to get even.

I think victor1234 is right. I know at the very least I would have lost my appetite.

I think Earl is going to start making his own lunch. With a spouse like Opal, I would.

One speck of mold & the whole loaf goes to feed the birdies.

Heck! We even pay extra for mouldy cheese!
BTW, Aerwalt, if that speck of mold is Aspergillus, you just killed those birdies
