I read the old cartoons they show here 2001-2004.several of them are about his knowing it is exactly 6 pm = dinner.time. Maybe because he only gets one meal per day?
There is a clock tower with a big watch in the background and Fred is a clever dog – therefore Fred knows what the time is!!!!I also suppose there is not a general order to walk a dog on a leash in Great Britain (same like here in Germany). That is why I do not wonder why Fred and the other dogs are without any leash.Another fact counts: Fred and his dog friends are more than usual dogs… they are dogs in a comic!!! smile
Oh, want to mention: Fred’s name in German Comics is Wurzel, I think it is a good name for the Basset Hound, better known here as Hush Puppy. The picture below shows the daughter of Alex Graham, Arran Graham (die Tochter des Wurzel-Erfinders, mit Wurzel-Heften in der Ausstellung. Foto: Aulich).

Fred knows it is meal-time by his stomach…or by a length of sausage dangling from the table ! ! ! !

My baby (mixed breed) rescue dog knows when it’s time to go for a walk, she will come and bark at me :)
