Just love how you reach into the deep past to justify/explain something today. Because we KNOW Republiclans have always been for equal rights and friend of the minorities since Lincoln.
The Voting Rights Act was tabled for many years by that notorious “Republican” Lyndon Johnson (while he was in the Senate) after he got in the White House he then became a champion of Civil Rights.
If I remember correctly, Johnson predicted that after signed the Civil Right’s Act, that the democrats would lose the south for at least a generation or more.
Night-Gaunt is wrong. Goldwater, as with all conservatives, believed that government should not discriminate against anyone. Goldwater also believed that government using laws to compel people to think according to the wishes of the government – a change from the Constitutional right of association – was morally wrong. He was anti-PC before being anti-PC was cool. As any economist could tell you, the market itself will correct stupid-discriminatory behavior; but government is different as it does not allow competition to itself.
One wonders why the NightGaunt types fail to address the actual cartoon before them, factually lambasting Hillary Clinton for hiding from the press. Suppose it either an attempt to distract, or perhaps a mental illness.

For a reality check, substitute the House Benghazi committee panel and nearly 11 hours.

Jim Crow was government-enforced immorality.

Looked more like Trump’s goons treatment of the press.
