I started college in 1962 and my tuition, including all the fees etc was $79 a quarter, and that included renting all the books needed for our courses. A lady told me the other day that free college ( Bernie Sander’s idea) was unfair to those who had already worked two jobs to get themselves through college. The kids going to college now should put some “seat equity” into it, like she did. I guess she hasn’t checked out how far the wages on those two jobs would go toward college expenses now. It effectively creates a caste system. You can’t do it on your own, unless you don’t mind it taking 10 years part time. And, once you have finished, you’re in your mid thirties, and have student loans, how are you going to accumulate the money to send your own kids?
