Elvis: Things are getting strange. Woman: I found it! Lupin: The Women have decided to talk to a board game. Lupin: But at least we can see the board game.... Puck: Who is Freddie? Can you tell us a little about Freddie? Tillie: Who's Freddie?! Why, Freddie Quinn! Everyone knows Freddie! Tillie: Say, I should be getting back to Freddie. Tillie: I wouldn't want her to worry. Tommy: Elvis, I'm here with a possible eye witness to these past events. Tommy: What can you tell us about the early 1990s? Baba Mouse: WHAT?! I don't go back that far! Tommy: Aren't you like, 150 years old? Baba Mouse: Rude. Baba Mouse: Anyway, only in cat years. I'm just 26 in People years... I could tell you about the mid 90's. Tommy: No, that's okay- Baba Mouse: The music was GREAT. Woman: Whatever we ask, it just keeps spelling C-A-T. Ceiling Woman: These things never work. Woman: I thought for sure we'd conjure someone up! Winifred Quinn: WHERE IS MY CAT?

Please don’t mess with those, you can conjure up something really nasty!

Eh. Ideomotor response or intentional manipulation. Less awe-inspiring when considered as a toy trademarked variously by Hasbro and Parker Brothers with a coined name consisting of French and German words for “yes”.

One thing for people who only read Breaking Cat News here (and not on the website) to be aware of, this strip originally ran the entire month of October, leading up to Halloween. It’s a Halloween story and should be taken as such.
Another thing to remember is that this strip fills in a lot of background and sets up things for future strips.
And there are things in this arc that tie into the special “Shelter Report” which at this time is only on the website.

This particular story series is fantastic. I love the panel with the old lady moving the Ouija pointer.

Tommy looks very disturbed, I think this is the first time I’ve never seen him smiling.

Getting serious here. Remember, there are two styles of humor, especially for comics. One is laugh a minute gags. The other is the warm, friendly, low key humor that comes out of everyday situations. Sometimes the only laughter is the laughter of recognition – for example the humor that the two women don’t even notice they have summoned a ghost. It’s important to keep these two ways of being funny in mind. If you’re looking for quick gags and jokes, this is the wrong strip for you.

Those boards are just stupid. they always give you the answer you expect, as your muscles are actually what is moving them. To demonstrate this, use the board blindfolded, with someone else observing.

I find it hilarious that the Woman and Ceiling Woman don’t get “C-A-T” Must be very frustrating for the ghost.

Georgia’s strip is IN the comics, but it’s really a lot more. It’s a window into a wonderful world of cats and their people in a warm way that is sometimes funny, sometimes not so much, just like life. I neither like Ouija boards nor believe that “ghosts” are ever benign, but appreciate the look at the possible relationship between the animals we live with and what they perceive that we do not.
Everyone gets their view; all we ask is civility.

WHOA, now it’s getting creepy!
And incidentally, Baba Mouse and I happen to be same age.
…I don’t know how I ought to feel about that.

My mother had one of those……she asked it this question.“Will my son ever leave me.”The answer was Yes……she threw that board so far across the room grabbed me up screaming…..“You will never leave me….EVER…..promise!!!”This was in the early 60’s. What could I say I was 11 so I said “I promise.” I guess that is why she hated me in her later years.I became a man, got a woman who loves me with out question, have my family…….and I did leave her.The Quija was right.

Lots of comments on the strip today. It seems that the number of readers is growing nicely. That is Sir Figaro with Lupin who see the ghost of Freddie. Puck is upstairs talking to Tillie, the ghost cat. DewSolo noted that this arc ran the entire month of October on Georgia’s website. It was the Halloween special. This makes for a very story of Tillie and Freddie and how they missed each other and had such a special cat- human bond.

I am really enjoying this story arc ; )

Hasbro sells the boards not because they have a copyright on it, but because no one does. They’re public domain, like tarot cards.

I really wish that the people would figure out that the ghost is a cat.
