So, apparently Putty Puss is saner than he is acting. And (unless I’m mistaken), the next story line is supposed to be Notta Fallar’s. Putty Puss may be preparing to portray Purdy Fallar, or perhaps Blaze Rize (on the off-chance she was actually killed by Notta). But, there could be thousands of other story ideas. That’s what makes this version of Dick Tracy SO interesting! I can’t help but to speculate, but it’s wonderful to just sit back and enjoy the story. THANK YOU FOR THAT’ TEAM TRACY!

So that’s the infamous Putty Puss eh? He seems to be insane….and with his talent this story could go virtually any where.

Putty Puss doesn’t seem to show any effects, but the first time I read this it looked like that Taser was just recently used. But since Putty is OK it must just be at the ready. Judging by those shooting stars and sparks the officer may be in more danger from that thing than anyone else. It may be a defective Taser!

Perhaps he is both agitated and contemplating committing a crime in this case.

So (as Neil pointed out) here’s an inmate who is escorted by a guard with a Taser – getting into a cab, with only a verbal instruction to be back by dinner time? Come on! Really?

Everyone here knows I have certain songs for certain villains. SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL is what I use for Mr. Bribery.

You could be right. Maybe they just have to have that at the ready, regardless of the patient.

Putty Puss has been hired for a job. It may be that he is wearing an ankle bracelet with tracking capability. If he strays from the job location he loses work-release privileges. That said, I agree that Putty Puss is being given more leeway than we might have expected. What’s troubling me is the nature of his game.

I’m assuming he’s deemed to be non-violent, despite the armed Taser in the doctor’s hand.

I watched it when it ran on prime time tv! I was around 7 – 8. Very clear to me. Loved the song and the singers.

I was only about 5, so I probably only remember it from reruns, but I remember that song very clearly. Apparently, it was sung by Rebecca Page (as Pebbles) and her mother Ricky Page (as Bamm Bamm), who later became “The Bermudas” and then “The Majorettes.”

Thanks for the strips from the 80s. Putty Puss is definitely a dangerous element since he can disguise himself at a moment’s notice, if need be.

In the original story, Putty Puss also imitated President Reagan, Albert Einstein, and David Letterman. Locher’s ability as a caricaturist (from his editorial cartoon experience) came in very handy in the original tale.

Sydney can correct me on this but I believe that this is the 4th appearance of Putty Puss in the strip.
