Where I come from, cousins would still be in the “red zone”. You never hear of “Kissin’ Cousins”?

Do you have a “sister wife”?

Alex graduated from MIT this spring, but Leo can’t attend there. I hope he’s not enrolled in one of the for-profit schools that XianProf recommended at the end of yesterday’s posts:

I listened to this audio by a spokeswoman for “Honest College Matchmaker.” Posing as a prospective MBA candidate, she talked to “prescreeners” at six schools (including U. of Phoenix and Westwood College). She likes these colleges because they were enthusiastic about her application. Happy employees, she argues, bespeak a superior school (not just successful recruiting?). Most oddly, she was put off by those schools who recommended she visit a class—-a bad recruiting move, she says, because the prescreener loses “phone-time” control over the student; besides, the student may not like the class!
The tape reminded me of Zonker and his nephew, Zipper.

For those old enough to remember the early Doonesbury (or read the earliest collections), Alex’s dad was a spectacular failure as a ladies’ man (with lines about hitting the old hay). Despite her insecurities, Alex is doing better than he ever did.

^Bensondonald, I remember those days! Alex is way far ahead of Mike. And I like her just the way she is.

SHEIK Are you insinuating in some parts couples are related by more than marriage?Like a certain state with 2 million voters with 8 last names.

I see Leo hardly goes by toggle anymore and ditched the army wear. Good for him.

Yes, “cousin” doesn’t necessarily place Jennifer off limits, especially in Virginia, which is, if memory serves, where Leo lives, but that he didn’t even notice that she was cute is quite a good sign.

Grad school already for Alex? Did I miss her graduation? Our kids grow up so fast…

@Nemesys — tell me about it. I can still remember Alex’s stepmom being brought over to America as a baby.

Well, she is my step-daughter so that doesn’t count does it?

Kissing cousins is always a bad sign.

It seems that I remember one or two of our presidents being married to their cousins. ?????

It took me a while to realize that Kim and the Jimmy Carter quoting baby from 30+ years ago were one and the same.

If a couple gets married in Arkansas, then moves to Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, and back to Arkansas, are they still brother and sister?
Nemesys over 14 years ago
jimpow, not necessarily . They could be brother and brother. Or, if one of them is Woody Allen, they could be father and daughter.

Yes.
Interesting question, though.

@ Clark Kent Well then, that makes it all swell.
“Allen and Farrow’s biological son, Ronan Seamus Farrow, said of Allen: “He’s my father married to my sister. That makes me his son and his brother-in-law. That is such a moral transgression. I cannot see him. I cannot have a relationship with my father and be morally consistent…I lived with all these adopted children, so they are my family. To say Soon-Yi was not my sister is an insult to all adopted children.”
As an adopted child myself, I’d have to agree with Mr. Farrow.

I haven’t seen anyone gripe about Woody Allen’s private life for about ten years, Nemesys. Allen & Soon-Yi Previn Allen have been together for seventeen years & married for thirteen years. Ronan Farrow’s remark is five years old. I suggest that you let go of this whole matter that has never concerned you.

Brian, thanks for the irrelevant history factoids. It would have already been let go had you not brought it up again.
