I was born in Santa Ana, California in a small hospital that has long since been demolished. We had all all the amenities of the time. I think I would have Eliot (the little brat) look up electricity and learn about when it was discovered and how we got to where we are today.
My younger sister did actually ask our dad once “When you were a little boy, and George Washington was president…” He stopped her, there. “I wasn’t here yet. (He was from Melbourne, Australia) Go ask your mum. She’ll know.”
I resemble that remark. Born on the South Platte between Denver & Nebraska. On the prairie we used to beat impudent kids. (Mostly just threaten, a light smack now & then to get their attention.)
TonyDowntown Los Angeles in the California Hospital, a huge old Victorian Pile that has long since crumbled to dust. And it was a Cesarean birth, its a wonder I’m even here. And the reason I’m an only child! lol
QOTD #2: A question I ask often as my father has hearing aids but refuses to wear them before he takes his shower. Not a problem except he doesn’t do that until after noon, as he says: “It’s nice to be retired.”
Marshalltown, Iowa. In a hospital that has been completely rebuilt since then. But, at 74, I suspect most hospitals have been rebuilt or replaced since then.

The Appalachian corner of Ohio; we all had electricity (thanks, FDR!), but indoor plumbing was by no means universal.

I exist, therefore I am. . . . an Army Brat. I have no feelings toward the state I was born in and left 4 months later for Germany.

The correct response here is: “No, we had to watch TV by candlelight.”
