If you cannot finish your ride by 10am (EDT) to catch the last hour, there’s no shame in riding later in the day.

How does one in the States even watch Paris-Roubaix?

Since the expected finish is around 9am where I am, I’ll be watching it live and then going for a ride. I’ll either be very motivated or very tired from getting up very early.

joninkrakow: there’s a variety of iffy websites, some absolutely infested with malware, that show live Eurosport coverage of bicycling racing. Sure, accessing these sites involves risk, but with a bit of care they can be safely navigated. And after all, it’s worth it!

For anyone interested: http://www.steephill.tv/http://cyclinghub.tv/livestream (This site has been really good and reliable, but they’re not showing P-R among their livestreams yet.)

    Anyone know of other sources?

Good point Mallett. I did not ride yesterday and watched P-R instead. Too bad Big Tom Boonen couldn’t take the sprint finish.

I’m a cyclist but I’m having trouble understanding this strip. I get that Miss Plainwell is making a double meaning (I think) with the word “break” but I don’t understand how it applies to what Frazz is saying.

Frazz often makes a point of not wasting time watching these events. He goes out and rides/runs and then checks later to see who won. It seems he’s saying that HE is the real cyclist, who will ride instead of watching, while she will watch (the “between you and me,” and his feeling the need to soften it by clarifying that he doesn’t “mean to sound harsh.”) As to what she means by “that break is up the road,” I’m not sure, unless she means she’ll kick his butt on an upcoming hill or something…??
