How's this? Is this a good pose? The pose doesn't matter. I paint what's beneath the surface... And not just the inner self... Below the inner self... Below even the unconscious... I paint something deep, deep down where the core self merges with a universal archetype... Wow. That sounds amazing. Can I see some of your other portraits? I haven't done any paintings yet. So far I've just been working on my mission statement.

A “mission statement” (more commonly called “Artist’s Statement”) is a crucial part of any beginner’s exhibition. Why do I have a feeling, though, that this deep, deep down, core self plus universal archetype, portrait of Monty will end up looking like a generic smiley-face?
