Frazz: Happy Earth Day. Caulfield: Wrongo, Frazz-o. Frazz: OK. Caulfield: Earth Day should always be on a Wednesday. Frazz: Because Caulfield: That's the third day from the Sunday. Frazz: That makes too much sense. Caulfield: Happy Jupiter Day.

Why is Frazz sweeping the lawn? Is this a metaphor for cleaning up the planet?

Well then Earth Day could be on Thursday as well, as that is the third day before Sunday. They both orbit Sunday, Caulfield!

Actually, Thursday (Thor’s – aka Jupiter – Day) is Jupiter’s day and is the fifth day of the week when Sunday is considered the first day of the week. But What of Venus, the first rock from the sun, competing with the Moon? It’s all too confusing! I’ll wash my solar panels today anyway.

Clever, yet somehow worthy of a groan …

Actually, it’s Woden. Wotan is Germany. But most people don’t know the English names Tiw, Woden, Þunor, and Frige, or the German names Cyo, Wotan, Donner, and Frija.
Friday is not related to Frey, a male god, but to Frigg (“Fridge” above an an Autocorrect goof), who was perceived as the Norse equivalent of classical Aphrodite/Venus. There was a long pagan tradition of reasoning, “Their god X is just another name for our god Y.”

Except that Friday is actually Venus Day and Thursday is Jupiter Day!
