When I was in Germany in the early 60s, I saw kids who appeared to be about 9 years old buying beer at gasthouses to take home, presumably to their dad. It seemed that you were old enough if you were tall enough to put your money on the bar. After all those teenage years of fake IDs and buying beer out of the back door of honky tonks, I was jealous as hell.
I was expecting “that cop from the other day” to barge in here TODAY! Apparently, this Betty is NOT the legendary “BIG Betty” of the occasional gossip chat of Flo and Rube. If it were, her kid would probably be bigger than Andy and Jackie combined…..
When I was in Hartlepool in 1961, where Andy Capp is set, it was very common for sons, as young as 8, to be with their fathers in a pub. I was 16 at the time, there with my uncle.
if anyone wants to tell, I’m curious do you remember who gave you your first drink? I remember getting to sip my parent’s beer over lunch. but the first time I had a glass all to myself it was Burgundy. My neighbor (my age) got it from her Mom’s stash. Gee was it ever Good :D
Hi Cappers! I have been around here since 2008, most of you have seen my comments for years now. You know I am not a TROLL!
I am sorry, I have to agree with WOODNFLINT on this one.
I have had a close friend’s, and another family member, both from good loving homes lose a child from underage drinking. If you have not had to endure that, you are lucky.
I see the humor in this, as far as Andy being the cheapskate he is, but this one was not funny. It is very poor taste in my opinion.

Even Moe wouldn’t let Homer let Bart in his establishment, but those two were tethered together by order to the judge.

This is not a joke………………. lock Andy up for his crimes this time as well as Flo for contributing ……… and the bartender

That kid’s awfully tall for a seven-year-old.

I hope I’m not the only one who sees this post as disparaging and inappropriate:." Get over yourself, it is quite amusing."

Pretty sure Jack would lose his license selling beer to the kid, even if he didn’t drink it.
