I wonder if this gave that guy who did exactly that in ‘94 in order to see his brother the idea. Alvin Straight was his name. Didn’t drivers license because at 73 his eyesight was too poor for the DMV to give him one. But he had a riding mower and a trailer for it and his brother was in the hospital in another state. So he hitched up the trailer, put in some gas cans and a sleeping bag and tent, and took off down the road. 240 mile trip on a 1966 John Deere riding mower.
I don’t think Schroeder was interested in Charlie Brown’s strip even before he explained it, especially when he practically had it shoved in his face in the first panel.

I have re-read it a few times but I don’t understand why what Charlie Brown says in panel 4 should end with a question mark.
