The common element in the guards escaping their bonds in these last two arcs is Tarzan. I suspect that the great apes didn’t teach him much about knots.

When they finally get to Volthar’s land, Tarzan will find him to be a prince and a very bad guy who feeds him to some violent animal and thus kills him. This is the last story. He never finds out how Jane occupies her time while he is out messing with the apes.
