I lived on a commune in the 70’s. One of our community was a “vegetarian”. Once a month on the big city shopping trip for our crew we would stop at the McDonald’s in Utica. She would order a hamburger, same as meat-eater-me. She said it wasn’t real meat. I still laugh when I remember it.

How did the rest of the crew get so chubby on such lean minimalist food?!

I once tried going meatless. I did feel more alert and energetic, but my first hamburger after 3 weeks of it was ambrosia… ☺
