Then again it is not the job of the press to always tell you what you want to hear. Nor is it the job of the press to tell you just what their sponsors want you to hear.
I’m not sure which US action this is, there were several in the reagan era, but I remember one where the Marines landed in force , I think Somalia, where the press was waiting for them on the beach to film their arrival. Marines making a potentially opposed landing. some idiot newsman decided to light them up for better filming and turned on a spot lamp.
no one was killed when the Marines opened fire and strangely no one was terribly sympathetic towards the various journalists who ran in panic at the fusillade while screaming ‘press’.
Every member of the press has biases, as does every press organization. Always have, always will. Most readers do not filter for bias, preferring a single news source, or select group of sources, affirming the reader’s personal world view. Very few news consumers have the discipline, and inclination, to willingly explore viewpoints contrary to their personal biases.Which means, in the news business, the real money lies in worldview affirmation, and formation, not in reporting facts as accurately and bias free as possible.

Lousy shot. Any soldier who can’t hit a member of the press needs to go back to shooting practice.
