It’s about preserving business. Medics need patients. As ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’, it follows that detering people from eating apples is good for the medical business.

This does not apply to tobacco.

Humour warning. People taking the first paragraph seriously need to visit a doctor.

Thankfully, the apple is one of the few things there aren’t warning about because they are healthy.

Unless, that is, you’re my wife. Then an apple will send you to the hospital because she’s deathly allergic to them.

After they traced the Snow White incident back to one bad apple, the Feds decided that the best non-overreactive response was to ban all apples. Much like their non-overreactive decision to place a ban on off-shore drilling after the one incident in the Gulf of Mexico.
