Have the interviewers and cameramen stand here to capture ’The Running of the Bulls". We will stop them here for interviews, closeups, and action shots.
You see. We, collectively, have despised the media for decades. Long before the current left/right chaos.
America has always despised the press. Because the press has ALWAYS been biased. The only difference between today and the time of the founding is diversity of opinion. Back in the day, all the way up to the 1950’s, there was a wide range of editorial difference among the papers. It is as simple as Hearst vs McCormick.
Go back and binge watch movies from the 1930s. A common theme was the unscrupulous reporter, the evil editor. Reporters were way down the food chain, close to lawyers and elected city officials. Mobsters were typically better received than reporters.
Things changed after WWII. The media built on the public love for some of the wartime correspondents and radio voices. The press expanded the realm of “awards” and began widely publicizing their own back patting. Soon, the used car salesman became (slightly) more hated than the reporter.
Fast forward to the present and we are beginning to come full circle. More and more people are wondering why news readers get paid 7 and 8 figure salaries. More and more “journalists” are caught pushing half truths and outright lies. Here is a nice bi-partisan list of the villains.

It is shocking how relevant this is so many years later.
