Yet like the rest of the ignorant populace, if they saw a regular ol’ RC plane, they wouldn’t give a damn, despite them having carried cameras long before quads-copters became popular and affordable.

I bought a slingshot. Target practice if I see one over my property. Don’t know if I will hit it, but, you don’t know until you try! They are too Orwellian for me & invade my privacy.

I’m all for banning stupidity, but leave my hobby alone. You “ban everything” people drive me nuts. I am going to spend the rest of my life finding out what you like to do, and then I am going to do it irresponsibly and get it banned too.

I truly don’t see how drones with cameras can be a hobby unless you’re up to something. Why can’t you just fly those RC airplanes and helicopters instead? This is coming from a place of judgement, I’m just really curious.

Since January, all Drones of 8 oz or more need to be registered with the number on the drone.

And those cameras on rockets took random pictures, sometimes of the sky and sometimes on the ground. In about 16 exposures, you could expect one or two good photos. I used to play with rockets with my son and with my “little brother” from the Big Brothers Program after my son grew up.

A drone over parkland, mildly forested areas of beauty where there’s still enough people activity that a drone isn’t AS likely to spook wildlife to a significant extent. Then, a camera. And practice. And beauty. And non-creepy hobby. THAT I would get into! Maybe other “touristy” urban areas, too. Anywhere that me standing and taking pics would be ok, flying the camera sounds great! Anywhere that’d be parallel to somewhere I’d get arrested for (like hovering by windows/crouching in the neighbors bushes), very very no.So, just HOW do you regular that?? Seriously, don’t know.

Here’s my philosophy: If a drone isn’t hovering over my property, it doesn’t have to worry about my shotgun.

You know why people hate this “hobby”? According to current law, If the neighbor’s kids’ throw a Frisbee over my locked gate, I can choose to give it back or not (it counts as abandoned property.) If they fly a camera over said gate, and it gets damaged it it’s my fault and I have to pay for it.

A fixed-wing aircraft does not hover unless there is a headwind higher than their stalling speed.

Of course it is creepy to have a camera hovering over you, with some stranger taking pictures of you. No wonder people shoot them down.

Drones are very useful.If I decide to become a burglar, I can check out an area and know who has something worth stealing.It really speeds up the process.And then I can use an infrared camera to see when the residents are gone or when one particular prey is home alone..I talked to a fellow this morning who said three of his neighbors have cameras covering his house.He’s planning to get some himself to help them in case a burglar decides to rob theirs..We need cameras at every public intersection. In case of most crimes, they would eliminate most of the innocent and include all who could have been guilty..Big Brother is falling down on the job.
