If the Wiley bears put the picture into this app, MealSnap, it will tell them the calorie count.

Remember, this is a just a cartoon. In the real world, we are at the top of the food chain. Not the bears. We will never be “food” to any species of animals.

Maybe we’re no longer often food for large predators, but there are still lots of microscopic critters that can make a tasty meal of us. There are still millions of us that die each year due to their dining.

@Josh Lyons, the idea that humans are apex predators is a common misconception. Biologists have a food chain scale from 1 to 5 that can be applied to any environment. Biologically, humans are ranked at 3.

That’s raw nature. However, as we all know, humans use intelligence and the technology that has evolved from that intelligence to artificially raise themselves to 5’s.

Before technology, though, humans had to live in fear of true apex predators, such as tigers. Even today, some tigers revert to preying on humans, especially in environments where they come into conflict with humans due to human destruction of their habitat, making non-human prey scarce.

An unarmed, naked human is next to helpless against any true apex predator.

Now that I know I’m at the top of the food chain, I’m looking forward to a blue whale appetizer on crackers before I chow down on gorilla barbecue.

Guys, I think Josh Lyons was speaking as a lion. Nobody wants to eat a meat eater, nor can any animal catch one.

Just barely understand. Bears just don congregate like that; so must be Wiley species which arise out of an artist easel. So easy.

I heard recently that one way to improve your appetite is to take a photo of the dish; makes it more appealing….So Wiley’s tourists are whetting the bears appetite,by proxy.

Again WE are the dominate species on God’s green earth, not them! They haven’t evolve (yet) to think and act like us!But let’s go that far as to call them “dumb animals”! “Dumb”means they’re mute (cannot speak). Keep in mind that thereason why they attack us is because (and this is just a theory) our ancestors long ago may have abuse them the way their descendants (us today) abused their descendants now! Aside from the domesticated ones (dogs, cats, horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, etc.) and those that have adapted to our urban life (birds, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, mice, and rats). All others are considered feral (wild) unless they were raised in captivity (and there’s no guarantee of that). Again I’m sticking to the fact that we will always be at the top the food food chain, not them!!

Well I guess we also can dismiss that rule of what our parents told us about stinging insects: “They won’t harm you if you don’t harm them”

In the conterminous US, bears have killed about 50 or so people, lions/Cougars 20 or so, wolves- zero but there was one documented human kill by wolves in Alaska, that historical totals. Bees, internal parasites, ticks, spiders, and scorpions are much better at killing, just a lot slower at eating the prey.

More people have died this year taking selfies than from shark (or bear) attacks:http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/photography/selfies-are-killing-more-people-than-shark-attacks-10512449.html
