Yes it does take some skill to drive a standard shift vs automatic ! Good luck !

As a woman who has driven various stick shift cars for over 40 years (started with 3 gears now up to 5) I would tell this lunkhead to get out and walk.

Hubby almost froze when at our hostess’ wheel and going up a hill. Got a bit confused and almost caused an accident. He was an excellent driver in the States, but…

don beardenYou should have picked up on other clues, like pets in pubs, “our” and “re” endings, etc. In the early days, many US newspapers “flipped” the cartoon so the steering was left, but somehow did not reverse the balloons nor the orthography. Bizarro often will flip the drawing, newspaper vs. here.

Now then, regarding the right-hand drive British cars: Is the gearshift pattern a mirror image of the ones in the States? Do you get to the higher gears by moving the stick to the left?
