With the pablum that students demand as an “education,” with no conflict or contradictory viewpoints, they shouldn’t be receiving degrees, but rather participation trophies.
Total BS. They said the same thing about us 40 years ago. And now I’m busting my nether regions to put kids through college at five times the cost of the old days, (and yes, they work, too, but it’s not possible to do it alone anymore). They are not rich, they are not entitled, and they are no more thin-skinned than most of the commenters here. They handle plenty of opposing views (though the science major has no patience with those who think facts are opinions). BUT, they DO have to respect each other, especially when it comes to how each gender or culture treats each other. I know, civility in discourse has become Un-American, but I’m glad they’re still taught it at the university.
One reason to go to college is to learn how to do something, teaching, nursing, engineer……The other is the pure love of knowledge, to understand the world, to dwell on the timeless questions, to gain wisdom, sometimes question reality, and look at things a new way……maybe even advance knowledge…
Unfortunately, the students of today seem to be much softer than just two generations ago. Safe spaces, participation trophies, useless degrees and the like all seem to have made this generation of college students into the soft underbelly of the country.
Who knew that the term “Freedom of Speech” meant that speech can go only in one direction? You silence speech mainly for one reason: you don’t have the ability to counter it with logical arguments, and thus must silence it.

He said one of the words! He’s repressing us with the language of imperialism, white supremacy, capitalism, ableism, and a cissexist heteropatriarchy!

That word is an attack on students who haven’t decided on a major yet! And it makes judgments on breakfast choices!

Looks like almost all of the comments today are just pedantic BS.

“Waffles” is a term describing a politician’s behavior and is therefore, a political word, to which I most strenuously object! :-)

Got a trigger word for those poor, molly-coddled students:
TAXES.
Yep, not going to avoid that one.
