You’ll never replace that friend. But you can make a new one.
I’m sorry about your dog. My dog is getting old and I’m not looking forward to having to say goodbye to her but I think I’ll have another dog before I have to say goodbye to this one.
I did not grow up with dogs in my house. My wife did. We got our first dog when we were engaged. I can not imagine not having dogs around me all of the time. It is true what everyone has said..there is a friend waiting for you at a local shelter that needs that love.
Medically, it would be harder for the dog than it would be for me. My last siberian was more of a soulmate than my husband. He loved everyone including our three cats. I miss him every day and I grieve for him more than I can say.
It’s been 5 months and I still miss my Oreo everyday. Have not been able to change my Facebook pic although I have had Adelia for 4 months. I feel guilty for not putting her pic up but will miss seeing Oreo’s sweet face everyday.
A new dog won’t replace the one you lost, it will be “in place of”. Our hearts expand to love another one. There is a furry little face at your local shelter just waiting for you. Rescues are grateful to you for saving them and love you back more than you can ever know. We rescued a Greyhound from Colorado her name is Mariah and a lab/hound mix or a BBD (big black dog) from a no kill shelter. His name is Gibbs. Rescue! Rescue! Rescue!

Reinvest that love in another dog.

Apparently you don’t miss your dog so much as having a dog in the first place.

Adrian, I am sorry for your loss (I assume the strip is a reflection of your life). I hope that soon you will be ready to adopt a new one.

For some of us it took a little time to grieve before we were ready for a new friend.

After over a year without her, I still can’t bear to look at her photos. A new dog doesn’t replace an old one….he’s a continuation.

Pets are precious, as bev said, whatever they are, if you LOVE them, you LOVE them, the pain at their loss is no less! IT STILL HURTS!

I so went through that when my last dog died. It seemed like everywhere I looked I saw people with their dogs.
