If police can “lift” fingerprints off of almost any hard surface, so could a criminal. Seems to me that it should be fairly simple to build a counterfeit “thumb” — maybe using 3D printing? — for use with a stolen phone. In fact, the necessary thumbprint can probably be found on the phone itself.
We have a little “store” in our work break room and it has the thumb/fingerprint pay option to link to the card they gave you. I love it! It’s so quick and easy.

Remember if your phone is secured by a thumbprint the police can compel you to open it but if it is secured by a PIN they cannot.

Her logic doesn’t make sense. If you’re going to eat out at a restaurant you expect to pay for it, so why do you want to make that harder to do?
