Many years ago I bought my friend’s little girl a noisy toy trumpet for Christmas. She grew up to perform in a brass band that wins internationally.

I sent it with my kids to whoever gave them the toy and told them to leave it there for whenever they visit.

A friend of mine was terrorised by her older brother when she was young. He really went out of his way to make her life hell. Her parents took the approach of not doing anything so by standing up to him would teach her to stand up to anyone. Anyway years later when her brother’s son three for his 3rd birthday she bought him a drum kit. She did this knowing her brother hated loud continuous noises and she also knew the boy would be allowed to keep it as his mother (her brother’s wife) taught kids music and she was delighted at at just how enthusiastically the child took to his drums.. Nice way to get revenge and make a little boy happy, eh?
