Also, also, most schools have summer work now. Biggest issue I have is getting my kids to spread it out, they want to do it all now.

Forget the agrarian model. We need those kids to sell T-shirts and fudge….I fact, Michigan enacted a law that prevents schools from opening until after Labor Day…Hey, It’s a tourist state!…How can we afford to keep the schools open without the tourist dollars…..

But the main reason for taking a long break….Teachers and students need to get away from each other for a while. They do get on each others nerves, trust me…Best to separate them for awhile….I also disagree about a student losing knowledge after a few months. Letting your mind roam free as a bird, like most kids do in the summer, is actually good for learning….Besides, a couple nights of homework will bring back what they should know….

Heard a similar one about a Texan bragging about the size of the state, "Why, in Texas, you can get on a train in the morning, travel all day and all night, and wake up the next day still in Texas!. "

The response, “Yeah, I know what you mean. We have slow trains in New Jersey too!”
