I have added 8 custom filters to AdBlock Plus. The most interesting one actually fixed a problem with one of my favorite websites that would eventually cause the browser to crash. I have a page constantly running in a separate Firefox window that shows chess speed games being played. The page has a function that makes a noise when each move is made, which can be muted by muting Firefox, but can’t be muted by any setting on that page. The longer the page is active, the larger the Windows file that controls audio gets, until it eventually starts affecting Firefox’s performance, and then crashes it. Using Firefox’s “Developer Tools”, I figured out the remote location where the audio mp3’s were being sent from, and blocked it.
